8-BALL RULES
GAMEPLAY
Gameplay is BCA Rules
Coin Flip to see who breaks (Winner of Coin-Flip Chooses to Break First or Pass)
Alternate Break Afterwards
Breaker must perform a Legal Break (See BCA Rules)
If a ball is pocketed, that player continues to shoot until they miss
If 8-Ball is pocketed on a legal break, the ball is spotted, or can elect to
re-break
Table is open after the break regardless what goes in
The shooter must call ball & pocket
(Obvious shots need not be called, but all Jumps, Banks, Kicks, Caroms, and
Masse's be called)
When table is open, a combination involving a solid to stripe and vice versa is
allowed
(Except the 8-Ball cannot be the first ball struck by the cue-ball)
Players alternate after the opponent misses or fouls
Game is won when the first person to legally pocket the 8-Ball on their turn
A LEGAL SHOT
When a solid or stripe has been determined, the shooter must make contact with
their set of balls first and then any ball on the table must contact a rail or
go in a pocket.
Failure to do both constitutes a Foul
FOUL
A Foul can be committed two
ways, either a Scratch (Pocketing the Cue-Ball or Knocking it off the table)
or failure to execute a Legal Shot.
Once a Foul has been
committed, the players turn/inning is over and the opponent gets to take
Ball-In-Hand anywhere on the table
The player who commits the foul leaves the cue-ball where it came to rest during
the fouled shot, unless they scratch
However, the player who scratches will get the cue-ball behind the head-string
when their opponent misses, unless the opponent also Fouls or Scratches
If the player misses a legally executed shot without fouling, the previously
scratching player must shot forward from behind the head-string at their object
ball outside the kitchen
